Rachel is a born and bred Newcastle girl who completed her Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Newcastle in 2002. Since graduating, Rachel has been helping kids and their families reach their potential in areas that are important to them.
Over a decade on and Rachel still loves the diversity that comes with working with such amazing families and their special kids with no two days being the same. Rachel believes in developing strong relationships with families to help improve the therapeutic interventions and still gets a buzz when families text through photos of their kids achieving a new milestone! There is nothing more satisfying than seeing the joy and satisfaction of a child achieving their goal for the first time.
Therapy is focused around the family’s goals and priorities with an importance on developing achievable outcomes. Through the use of play and games, kids often don’t even realise they are in therapy. You know you have done your job when kids don’t want to go home after their visit to “OT school”.
Fun fact: Rachel’s dog came from Hunter Animal Rescue and weighs more than her. Lucky he is a gentle giant!
