Rachel

Occupational Therapist/Director

Rachel has been working with kids and their families in the Newcastle area since graduating from the University of Newcastle. A passion for working with children and their families started while still at University and during her first clinical placement. Rachel has developed a broad range of skills with a focus on developmental disabilities and feeding. Rachel loves the diversity of working with kids and their families as no day is the same!

Rachel believes in developing strong relationships with families so that she is able to support them with the things that are most important for them. At Ability Focus OT, we don’t just ‘work with the child’ – we collaborate with the whole family so they feel heard and supported. Therapy is focused around the family’s goals and priorities with an importance on developing achievable outcomes. Through the use of play and games, kids often don’t even realise they are in therapy. You know you have done your job when kids don’t want to go home after their visit to “OT school”.

Fun fact: Rachel is currently in training to complete the Kokoda Trail.
