Telehealth Services
Where face-to-face clinic, home or school-based services are not suitable for children and their families, Ability Focus Occupational Therapy offers Telehealth appointments instead.
What is it? Telehealth refers to any digital technique used to conduct appointments instead of the regular face-to-face method. We can do this either by phone or through an online video format called ZOOM Cloud Meetings.
ZOOM Cloud Meetings is a secure online video platform that is similar to Skype or Facetime. We enable all additional security measures to ensure your Telehealth appointments are as secure as possible and the privacy of our families and therapists is upheld. Zoom appointments will not be recorded or stored in cloud based servers.
How does it work? We simply email you a link, that when clicked, it automatically connects you to your OT via the camera and microphone on your smartphone, tablet or computer. Our team is here to help if you require any assistance in accessing your Telehealth sessions.
Is it right for my child? We understand that Telehealth may be tricky for some children to engage in. We provide extensive support to help keeps things as simple and accessible as possible. Just like our face-to-face services, we use a variety of strategies to help children feel comfortable and confident, with ‘fun’ being at the heart of our therapy. If resources or materials are required during the session, we make the most of things that can be easily found around the home, and always work with your child’s strengths and interests.
